School Governance Operation Division (SGOD) spearheaded an activity entitled Appreciation Program for Education Champions last October 18, 2019 which was held at Swiss-Belhotel, Blulane, China Town, Sta. Cruz, Manila.

Dr. Gemma C. Villaluna, Chief-SGOD gave the welcome remarks while ASDS Dr. Buenafe E. Sabado delivered her opening remarks.

OIC-SDS, Dr. Alejandro G. Ibañez rendered his message pointing on the major roles of the parents and community as education champions in the realization of the vision and mission of the Department of Education. He extended his thanks to all the participants present.

ABC President Ricky Gino-Gino shared his governance in terms of providing assistance to education. He specifically mentioned the yearly conduct of values formation seminar to students and parents under within his barangay and urged other barangay officials to give their full support to schools under their jurisdiction.

Mr. Rolly V. Soriano, Project Development Officer IV (PDO) from External Partnership Services (EPS), Central Office, one of the resource speakers was delighted with the presence of the community partners and parents in the activity and he stressed the connections of school, family and community in developing the holistic personality of the child.

Mrs. Editha Perigrino, PSDS and SHS focal person gave updates on Senior High School immersion.

Mr. Rommel Nicolas, PTA Federation President, also shared some insights on how to be of help to the schools.

Ms. Kathryn Ann Hilario also graced the activity and conveyed the message of Mayor Toby Tiangco.

The activity was a success. Present were all the barangay chairpersons from the 16 barangays of Navotas City, select GPTA officers, Adopt-A-School (ASP) Coordinators, School Heads, EPS and PSDSs. The most highlighted part of the event was the recognition of the education champions who have largely contributed to the success of the programs, projects and activities of the schools through giving of certificates of appreciation. It was hosted by Ms. Cecilia De Ocampo of San Roque NHS.
