SURPRISE EARTHQUAKE DRILL FOR THE DIVISION OFFICE PROPER PERSONNEL

By: Jayson Castro, PDO II/DRRMO

To test how the employees would react in the actual scenario of an earthquake, the very first unannounced earthquake drill was conducted in the Division Office last Tuesday, October 22, 2019 at around 2:50 pm.

Majority of the Division Office Personnel performed the Duck Cover and Hold before they evacuated their area. However, it was observedthat some were not aware of what the sound was all about, some were confused if the alarm was for the drill, some remained standing before they realized that it was a drill and there were visitors inside the building that had moved away instead of participating in the activity.

It took around 3 to 4 minutes before all the employees were gathered outside the building which should have been faster considering the several earthquake drills that we have been performing. But as a whole, the activity was rated successful.

The schools are also encouraged to conduct surprise earthquake drills to familiarize everyone on how they will respond when the most frightened “Big One”shall happen.
