One of the highlights of the event was the sharing of inspiring stories of selected teacher retirees and teacher scholars.“ May we see our retirement as an opportunity for us to grow deeply with our faith. As we gain a newfound freedom away from the daily grind of work as educators, may we continue to shine and light the path of the people whom we will come in contact with,”said Dr. Magdalena F. Aranes, Education Program Supervisor in Mathematics, one of the retirees. On the part of teacher scholars, Ms. Fatima Corina A. Robles said that the best word to describe her whole experience as public school teacher is BLESSED. “I am truly blessed that on my 2nd year as a public school teacher, I was granted with this scholarship which is only given to public school teachers by the city government. I sincerely believe that the desire and yearning to study and learn should never be lost in us. For the few years that I have stayed in the university, I feel that it taught me to grow my dreams deeper. It made me realize that my students’ dream are also my dreams,” she said.
In her closing remarks, Dr. Gemma C. Villaluna, extended her appreciation to all who were present that day, from the division officials, guests, school heads, faculty club presidents, SGOD personnel, Mr. Jeodhel L. Sestoso who became the master of ceremonies of the day, and all those who made the event possible. She saluted all the retirees for their efficient and effective service to the division and challenged the graduated teacher scholars to share all the learnings that they have gained from their studies to the teachers of Navotas and most especially to the most important stakeholders of the division, the learners.
