SDO-NAVOTAS INTENSIFIES INCLUSIVE EDUCATION ADVOCACY

The Schools Division Office of Navotas conducted a three-day training seminar on Inclusive Education entitled “RECEIVING TEACHERS: PARTNERS TOWARDS THE SUCCESS OF INCLUSIVE EDUCATION”on October 10, 12 and 19, 2019 at Daanghari Elementary School Conference Room. This training is intended for selected Elementary and Secondary Receiving Teachers catering Learners with Special Educational Needs (LSENs). It focuses on strengthening receiving teachers’ understanding on Inclusive Education, knowing the techniques of Accommodation and Modification, and creatingInclusive Classroom Strategies or Interventions for Children with Learning Needs.

The participants of the said training are the receiving teachersfrom Kaunlaran High School, Tangos National High School, Kapitbahayan Elementary School, Dagat-Dagatan Elementary School, San Roque Elementary School, Tangos Elementary School I, and Tanza Elementary School. They are deeply welcomed by Ms. Melinda M. Matias, Principal III of Daanghari Elementary School. The inspirational message is given by Dr. Alejandro G. Ibañez, CESO VI, OIC-Schools Division Superintendent. The rationale and objectives of the said training are discussed by Ms. Eloisa S. Sanchez, Public Schools District Supervisor/Officer-In-Charge – Education Program Supervisor in Special Education (SPED).    

As per DepEd Order No. 021 s. 2019 “POLICY GUIDELINES ON THE K TO 12 BASIC EDUCATION PROGRAM”, Annex 5: Inclusive Education Policy Framework for Basic Education Section VII G. Teacher Professional Development, teachers have responsibility to  implement inclusive education. Teachers shall possess the proper values, perspectives, attitudes, and competencies that communicate and reflect inclusion as they address the educational needs of diverse learners. In addition, Domain 3: Diversity of Learners of the Philippine Professional Standards for Teachers (PPST) emphasizes the importance of teachers’ knowledge, understanding and respect for learners’ diverse characteristics and experiences as inputs to the planning and design of learning programs. Clearly indicated on this DepEd Order is the essential capability enhancement and awareness seminar of the receiving teachers of LSENs to continuously create an inclusive learning environment which promotes inclusion of all learners and facilitates teaching and learning processes that addresses diverse learning styles and needs.
