Schools Division Office of Navotas City through the Health and Nutrition Unit conducted the Orientation on the Guidelines on the Implementation of School-Based Feeding Program – Milk Component at Grand Opera Hotel, Ambassador Hall, Sta. Cruz, Manila on January 8, 2020. This activity aims to discuss various details of implementation, including the mechanics of   delivery and receipt by schools, schedules, storage, handling, accounting, pre-feeding, scanning of beneficiaries and risk management, and to ensure the readiness of schools to receive, handle and store the fresh milk.

Dr. Buenafe E. Sabado, OIC-Assistant Schools Division Superintendent delivered her meaningful message. She stated that the milk feeding program may meet its objectives and the beneficiaries may exhibit positive health habits of drinking milk. It was followed by Dr. Gemma C. Villaluna, the Chief of the School Governance and Operations Division oriented the purpose of the SBFP – Milk feeding program to the 100 participants composed of school heads, SBFP coordinators, school health coordinators and school custodian. Public School District supervisors were also present for their support in the monitoring of the implementation of the program.

            Anna Grace Joy G. Onayan, Nurse II, presented the topic about Milk safety and handling which tackles about food safety concepts in dairy farm to ensure safe and quality milk are being delivered to the consumers. The Guidelines on the Implementation of the SBFP-Milk component was discussed by Mary Jane M. Mendiola, Nurse II. The topics includes: I. Beneficiary, scope and Duration, II. Specification, Quality Standards and Delivery of fresh milk, III. Distribution of Milk and Feeding Program, IV. Storage and Control System, V. Reporting and recording System and VI. Roles and Responsibilities of Schools Division Office and school beneficiaries. An invited guest Ms. Glenda Lita N.

Ersando, President, from ACES Philproducers Corporation, presented a brief introduction about their company.

After the discussion, participant is given an opportunity to ask questions, queries and other issues and concerns to come up with possible solutions and agreements for better implementation of the program in the division.

The activity was concluded through a closing message given by Mrs. Loida O. Balasa, Chief of the Curriculum Implementation Division.
