EXCLUSIVE ENCOUNTER WITH ASSISTANT PRINCIPALS AND HEAD TEACHERS

              “We were updated, refreshed and reinvigorated!” This was the comment given by Mrs. Corazon Ablola, Head Teacher II from Tangos National High School after participating in the Exclusive Encounter with Assistant Principals and Head Teachers, a customized professional development activities intended for APs and HTs that was held last February 21, 2020 at the SDO Navotas Conference Hall.

              OIC-ASDS, Dr. Buenafe Sabado welcomed the participants and reiterated their important roles as co-managers of the school towards learning effectiveness and organizational efficacy. Besides sharing the objectives of the study, CID Chief, Loida Balasa inspired the participants as she recalled how her experience as assistant to the principal shaped her work values and competencies as instructional leader.

              Highlight of the activity was the talk of the OIC-SDS, Dr. Alejandro Ibañez who discussed the education management framework of the division. He reminded the participants to focus on quality instructional supervision as this is the primary mandate of their positions. “Decide and be accountable,” he said to the audience as he encouraged them to continuously improve themselves and in the process help teachers achieve their utmost potential through transformative leadership.

              Afterwards, Dr. Sabado facilitated the session on Revisiting the Functions of APs and HTs. Then, Dr. Marco Meduranda presented, Instructional LeaderSHIFT, a talk about the Division’s thrust to a participatory, democratic, transformative and quality instructional supervision. He reiterated the call of the superintendent to promote happy schools by ensuring healthy and supportive environment where quality teaching and learning takes place.

              After the break, SGOD Chief, Dr. Gemma Villaluna gave a presentation on School Governance and Operations that aimed at guiding APs and HTs for effective learning delivery. Subsequently, CID Chief, Loida Balasa also delivered a lecture on Curriculum Management and Implementation which reoriented the participants on the essential deliverables in curriculum and instruction. They were followed by Mr. June Fermin who gave updates on administrative matters and Atty. Elvie Bialno on Legal Matters.

              During the commitment, Ms. Anika Dana Sengco, Head Teacher from Navotas National High School stated her appreciation for the activity and how the gathering promoted a professional learning community for head teachers and assistant principals. “We felt the care, concern and love of the Division. It will further inspire us to work even better and be effective co-managers towards learnings effectiveness and school efficacy,” she enthusiastically shared.
