Outclassing top student orators in other divisions, Sofia Marie Marquito of Navotas National High School emerged one of the best in NCR after bagging the third prize in the recently concluded 2019 BSP-DepEd Annual Oratorical Contest held on October 29, 2019 at the BangkoSentral ng Pilipinas Assembly Hall, Malate Manila.
Competing with other fifteen 10th grade students in this NCR level contest, Marquito effectively delivered her piece that highlighted the importance of the innovative use of statistics in advancing the country’s development agenda. This is aligned to this year’s National Statistics Month theme, “Data Innovation: Key to a Better Nation.” She was ably trained by Ms. Richelle Ann Reyes-Cupcupin of NNHS.
Supporting Marquito in the contest were Dr. Marco D. Meduranda, EPS in English; Mr. Mario Siason, English subject department head of NNHS; other English teachers in NNHS, her parents and two of her classmates. For winning third place, Marquito received a trophy designed by notable currency and medallic illustrator of the BSP, Mr. RymerGengoni and cash prize worth 15,000.00.
